After suffering a hamstring injury west Ham forward Michael Antonio could be out before the New Year.
The 29-year-old underwent successful surgery on Tuesday and is expected to be out for three to four months while he recovers.
The difficulty was endured by him at Newport a week.
The Hammers, who lost Javier Hernandez once he had been offered to Sevilla month, still have tons of options.
Although boss Manuel Pellegrini has Felipe Anderson Andriy Yarmolenko, Robert Snodgrass and Manuel Lanzini Albian Ajeti and new signings Sebastian Haller vie to its place.
