England U21 vs Kosovo U21
U-21 Championship Group 1
7:45pm Monday 9th September
KCOM Stadium
Phil Foden scored two for England U21s as they made it 2 wins in a row after beating on Kosovo U21s 2-0 on Monday night.
Having played just 10 minutes of Premier League soccer for Manchester City this year, Foden appeared keen to impress at KCOM Stadium and poked England in front from close range (25).
Kosovo were a difficult nut to crack when Foden was available to fire home for England, from 10 yards into rubber-stamp their success, and it took until injury-time.
In their opening Euro 2021 qualifiers, the side of Aidy Boothroyd have responded well after a European Union campaign in the summertime, taking maximum points.
Kosovo, high in Group Three at kick-off after wins from Turkey and Andorra, began full of optimism and the remarkable Lirim Kastrati saw his shot away for a corner .
England settled into their stride and Foden was on hand to shoot home the rebound when the line was cleared off.
Tom Davies and reiss Nelson both went close before the break but Kosovo ought to have levelled when an effort was somehow spooned by Arbnor Muja from three yards onto the crossbar.
Eddie Nketiah pulled a very low effort wide after the break as England stayed in control without ever looking that harmful in the third.
That wastefulness in the third came back to snack but Max Aarons refused Kosovo a clear scoring chance with a challenge inside his six-yard box which led to him limping off with a injury.
Foden wrapped up the points in injury time, latching onto a loose ball in the region and shooting home to maintain England’s 100 per cent record in Group Three.
