Cubs vs. Phillies MLB Pick – August 13th

The Philadelphia Phillies are back home after a tough weekend against the San Francisco Giants around the west shore. The Phillies dropped three of four games. Bryce Harper had pleasure telling fans to become silent after a clutch home run in their single win, however three of four losses would be not anything to get excited about. And that has been the problem with Bryce this season, he could appear and knock in a clutch hit after a month.
That isn’t enough to get a man getting his pay. We’re entering clutch season, so hopefully for the Phillies, the very best is yet to include Harper. Like I have said before, when he catches fire and contributes the Phillies to a deep postseason run, all will soon be forgotten due to his earlier conflicts.
If Harper had been playing well all season, the Phillies will probably threatening that the Braves right now. I’d require ten hands to count the number of times he’s had a chance to break up a match open and he falls short. Pitching wins games in the postseason. Everybody understands that and Bryce and his 330 million-dollar contract has to counter that. In any event, the Phillies only have to think about getting into the postseason.
The Phillies are not going to the postseason if the Wild Card Game was now. They are just two games back, using the day off so they weren’t going to improve. Cardinals and the Nationals are holding onto leads. It’s still anyone’s branch at this point. Even the Diamondbacks who traded their ace are in the combination.
That does not speak to how great the center of the National League isstill. It has been quite poor and the only complete team in the NL to talk of was the Dodgers. The Phillies welcome a Cubs team That Are atop the NL Central by two games over the Cardinals. Philadelphia is the second stop on their road trip after a separation in Cincinnati from the Reds. The Cubs got some positive news on Sunday together with the attempt by Jon Lester. He showed up and pitched a decent game to escape a funk. Lester was struggling mightily and that might be a step in the right direction for him. He was able to best ace Luis Castillo and lead the Cubs to a 6-3 triumph.
A split for the Cubs on the street would be an improvement. Considering that they have a listing of 23-35 on the road, .500 is better compared to their overall campaign as a visitor this year. The Cubs will likely be on the road for the following six games before return to Wrigley.
They hope to not only win three more games, however. Jose Quintana is going to likely be tasked with leading the pitching staff for the Cubs this evening. He moves using a respectable ERA of both all 4.23 at 129.2 innings. That is on pace for his profession, so no surprises in Quintana.
He’s permitted 5 home runs and 15 runs contrary to the Phillies at 139 at-bats. Quintana has been slightly worse flying around the road, posting a 4.34 ERA and 1.41 WHIP around the street. His most recent revealing against the Phillies had been a success in a 3-2 triumph, but that has been at Wrigley Field.
Former New York Met, Jason Vargas will look to settle in for the Phillies. Vargas was the only performer who ended up becoming moved after all those rumors for months. No Wheeler or even Syndergaard, however, only Vargas.
He was sharp in his debut with the Phillies, allowing two runs contrary to the White Sox at 6.1 innings at home. It was a different story for him on the street against the Diamondbacks at Arizona, as he was hit for 4 runs in five innings.
Vargas has performed better in the home in 2019, submitting a 2.92 ERA and also 1.18 WHIP instead of some 5.23 ERA along with also 1.33 WHIP on the street. Even the Phillies as a group are improved at home with a record of 34-26. Philadelphia are among the most hot and cold teams from the majors.
Observing the screen they place on San Francisco, then the general public will likely be on the Cubs here. This is actually the Phillies, however, and they look like a different team series-to-series. I’m about the Phillies as small dwelling puppies Tuesday night.
