The BNP Paribas Open is an ATP 1000 event taking place at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in California from March 7th-17th.
This year’s tournament features nine of the world’s top ten men’s players. Every one of the three — Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer — emphasize the event.

Seven of the past eight tournaments at Indian Wells are won by Djokovic, Nadal or Federer. The 2019 Australian Open champion enters the Paribas Open as the top seed of the tournament. He does face a potentially tricky matchup in the next round, should 33rd rated Nick Kyrgios progress.
Kyrgios lately went on quite the run in the Mexican Open on his way to winning the title last week. His tournament included an upset over Nadal at the Round of 16, before a straight sets win over world no. 3 Alexander Zverev.
Kyrgios is also 2-0 lifetime against Djokovic, although both wins came straight back in 2017. What could potentially await from the fourth round is really a game against Rotterdam winner Gael Monfils or even Argentina winner Marco Cecchinato.
The second highest ranked player in the first quarter will be eighth ranked Dominic Thiem. Thiem reached the semis of the Argentina Open last month, before making a fast exit in round one by the Rio Open.
If Thiem meet Djokovic from the quarter-finals, he’ll be assured in knowing he has defeated the Serb in their past two matches.
If he play Djokovic in the quarter-finals, he will be assured in knowing he has defeated the Serb in their previous two games. But he’s never won a head-to-head in a match played on hard courts.
