UFC 219 Odds and Predictions: Cyborg vs. Holm

UFC 219 is set to take place in Las Vegas on December 30th. Typically, the UFC’s December occasion is allowed as the large end-of-year show with a card that’s stacked from top to bottom. However, the current menu for UFC 219 lacks a little sizzle.
The main event has Cris Cyborg defending her featherweight title against another ferocious puncher at Holly Holm. On paper, it might seem one-sided, but remember the last time we doubted Holm in perceived mismatch name fight?
It is a fantastic matchup, to be sure. Yet, there are worries it won’t sell pay-per-views. So now, rumors are swirling about last-minute developments to the card, such as Nate Diaz in some capacity. A trilogy struggle with Conor McGregor has been the fantasy, but that won’t be occurring as McGregor is coping with some fallout from his Bellator fiasco and bumping a drug cartel associate. Oops.
Those transgressions will keep the Irishman out of the UFC octagon for a protracted period of time, or even permanently.
As for Diaz, he apparently has been offered everything but the moon. However, the Stockton native is demanding a celestial body, where I mean totes and bags of money, until he steps inside an Octagon again.
While one or two more bouts could be inserted to provide the card some extra pugilistic goodness, it appears that the major event is put, and I’m ok with that. What fans actually need at this point are quality conflicts, not only big names. And in addition to Cyborg/Holm, we’re also going to visit Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Edson Barboza, a huge battle that could give us another lightweight competition. The weigh-in might be just as dramatic as the battle handed Nurmagomedov struggles to create 155.
While we wait patiently for more spice to be added, let’s stir the existing pot and break down the main and co-main events of the day to your gambling needs.
