Davies Jr vs Ritson: Scott Fitzgerald stages late assault to seal British title win over Ted Cheeseman

After staging a late assault to seal some points win Ted Cheeseman in Newcastle on scott Fitzgerald became the British super-welterweight winner.
The unbeaten 27-year-old was made to dig deep after becoming defeated by Cheesemans back-foot boxing, but Fitzgerald hauled him into a punishing battle to earn a unanimous decision with scores of 115-113 and 116-113, 116-113.
As Cheeseman circled the ring, answering with a couple left hands on his own, Fitzgerald pushed rigid jabs in the opening bell.
Cheeseman was showing smart lateral motion, landing a mix and also the Londoner enjoyed more success in the third.
Fitzgerald was unable to pin Cheeseman, who chose him off at the fourth, but the Preston guy responded with precise punches from within the fifth.
Back came Cheeseman at the first time, sending a uppercut during his opponents shield, along with the Fitzgerald needed to withstand a right hand at the seventh.
Into the the attention was captured by yet another uppercut from Cheeseman, but Fitzgerald forged as stood and exchanged at the ninth.
Fitzgerald drew the Bermondsey fighter to a battle that was late, bloodying his nose at the 10th, and Cheeseman was on the front end of body shots in the closing two rounds.
