Placing recommendations together: you needed to gather them in one single place, keep consitently the list updated once you wished to include or eliminate one, then sort and structure them, and possibly turn the placeholder sources when you look at the paper text into figures. Any moment you’d add or remove one, you needed to again do it over.
Enter bibliography computer pc software. Within the dinosaur part, we now have bibTeX. While the title recommends, it really works with (La)TeX. Plus it’s nearly as old, having been released in 1985. It works on the text that is plain with a simple (and brittle) format for several its information, along with to run LaTeX three times to ensure all recommendations are really proper. This places perhaps the old two-pass compilers to shame, but that’s how works that are bibTeX.
